Appropriate consultation topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Complex Clinical Cases: Discussion of de-identified cases involving diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, co-occurring disorders, or treatment-resistant presentations.
  2. Ethical Considerations and Professional Boundaries: Consultation regarding ethical dilemmas, dual relationships, boundary management, and adherence to professional codes of ethics.
  3. Risk Assessment and Crisis Management: Peer input on suicide risk assessment, safety planning, duty-to-warn considerations, and determining appropriate levels of care.
  4. Treatment Approaches and Clinical Interventions: Exchange of knowledge related to therapeutic modalities, evidence-based practices, and strategies for working with diverse or complex client populations.
  5. Professional Development and Therapist Wellness: Discussion of professional growth, clinical best practices, burnout prevention, and maintaining long-term effectiveness as a clinician.

COLLEAGUE CONSULTATION FORUM - EXCLUSIVELY FOR SCCMHCA MEMBERS - VIRTUAL ON ZOOM

The SCCMHCA Colleague Consultation Forum is a private, professional space for licensed mental health clinicians to engage in peer consultation, enhance clinical effectiveness, and support ethical practice. Members may discuss de-identified clinical cases, ethical considerations, risk management, treatment approaches, and professional development. This collaborative environment promotes professional growth, clinical excellence, and peer support.

HIPAA Compliance Notice: All discussions must be fully de-identified. Sharing protected health information (PHI) or any client-identifying details is strictly prohibited. Participation constitutes agreement to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable ethical and legal standards.

Confidentiality Requirement:

All discussions held within the Colleague Consultation Forum are strictly confidential and are not to be discussed, disclosed, or shared outside of the consultation group. Participation constitutes agreement to maintain the privacy of all professional discussions and to fully comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as well as all applicable federal and state confidentiality laws. No protected health information (PHI) or client-identifying information may be shared. All case material must be appropriately de-identified.

Colleague Consultation Schedule:

Colleague Consultation sessions are held quarterly on the second Friday of the scheduled month from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Eastern Time

Additional consultation dates may be announced as part of SCCMHCA’s ongoing professional development offerings.

Confidentiality and HIPAA Compliance Disclosure:

All consultation discussions must fully comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and applicable state and federal confidentiality laws. Participants are strictly prohibited from sharing any protected health information (PHI) or any identifying client information, including but not limited to names, dates of birth, specific locations, employers, or any other details that could reasonably identify a client. All case discussions must be appropriately de-identified. Participation in this forum constitutes agreement to maintain the confidentiality of all professional discussions and to uphold the ethical and legal standards of the counseling profession.
